So now we have the bug...

I have heard that once you start doing 5k's, you get the bug. I honestly did not think this would happen because I am not a fan of running. But now we are running a 6k in May. Courtney and Josh are coming down for Mother's Day/my birthday (same day) so we are all running it. I think I might be running away from my age. Running from time. The only bummer is that the race is the day before my birthday so my competition is all younger than me because the category is 35-45 years old. I would place higher if I were in the 46-50 age group! If you want to run away from your age or anything else (husband, life.etc...) and join us, go to active.com and find the race in Calabasas at Malibu park. Sign up and join us! It will be fun!

Well I am glad i didn't back out of the 5k! It was really fun. This photo is Kevin, me, Mari and Chris just before the race. Kevin's darling wife, Lindsay, was our supporter, bag holder and photographer! We had fun and all finished faster than the last 5k we ran! Mari placed 3rd in her age group and I placed 4th in mine! I was happy considering I am NOT a runner!

The Organic Kitchen

So my kids are grown and in about 3 years we will be empty nesters! So sad and yet exciting at the same time. I was telling my friend the other day that this is the most fun time of our lives besides when were having all those cute little babies. Chris and Mari are doing well. He is more than half way thru law school. Court and Josh just got back from training in New York for 2 months and are busy at work. Both will probably be making us grandparents within the next two years. Lindsay is still working for a wedding planner and maybe I should take back that empty nester comment, because I think she might live with us forever... Patrick is doing well in school and will be off to college in a year and a half with Luke following soon after. So my point is, I have been considering what I would like to do once they were all gone. I don't want to work for anyone, and what ever I do, I have to love it. It also has to be something I am good at. As a girl that is really good at knowing her weaknesses and capitalizing on her strengths I decided to start teaching cooking classes. I love food, and cooking, I am good with people and passionate about nutrition! It may just be a perfect fit! I am starting at my home and if it takes off and I enjoy it, I will look for a rental space and make a kitchen studio. If you want to see what I am talking about go to theorganickitchen.blogspot.com and take a gander. Or you can just click on The Organic Kitchen under my friends list. My friend and computer genius Judy Phan-tastic did the photos and the blog for me. If you want to see more of her work click on her blog too!

Home Improvement

Well i am finally posting the photo's of the finished kitchen. Those of you that read our post entitled Coming Soon To A Blog Near You... know what has been going on in this kitchen. And it ain't just cooking.  I will leave it at that. It is hard to tell from the photo's but the backsplash above the cook top is a combo of crushed glass tiles, ceramic and stone. It turned out nice. I am happy and use my kitchen all the time!

I love Spring!

I am so glad it is spring. I planted the garden. It looks beautiful Any day now the roses will open and it will even be prettier! By the way, it took longer to post these last three posts than it did to plant the garden. i think I am ready to give up on blogging!

Morning walk...

My morning walk

I love living here! The weather is perfect! When I run in the morning, which I have been doing a lot of because we are running a 5k this weekend in Santa Barbara, I see the most amazing things. Beautiful white cranes that stand almost 4 feet tall, turtles, geese, ducks, and now ducklings too! Occasionally you can even catch a crawdad (they look like little lobsters) walking along the jogging path! I always wish i had my camera with me. But it is pretty hard to run with a camera so I went for a walk and got a couple photo's of our yard and some wildlife. Every year we eagerly await the first ducklings. They are just starting to hatch. So if you want a fun family walk, come to our neighborhood and make sure you give us a shout out when you pass our yard!
